Food & Paper Supply, an established food and paper distributor located in the south suburbs of Chicago (Alsip), is seeking a Buyer.  The Buyer will coordinates the procurement of products and supplies for resale. This person should have the ability to work well under pressure, independently and be a team player. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and maintains current inventory, including tracking of back orders.
  • Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products, with attention to specified target market and demographics.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.
  • Negotiates contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.
  • Creates Purchase Orders.
  • Assesses financial risks of purchases.
  • Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends.
Technical Qualifications
  • At least two years of retail buying experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to compile information and make decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Please note: This is an in-person role based in Alsip, IL. Applicants must be located in the Chicago area and available to work full-time on-site. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Salary: $20 - 25/hour
