Human Resources Generalist (part-time)

Our client, an established distributor of store products located in Des Plaines, is seeking a Part Time HR Generalist (15-20 hrs. per week) to handle daily human resources functions. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Processes new hires including administering the I-9 process, new hire paperwork, pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
  • Prepares and processes payroll; prepares monthly commissions for sales associates.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Maintains personnel and other employee and benefits records, including additions, deletions and changes to employee benefits.
  • Maintains spreadsheet for attendance record-keeping, updates monthly.  Processes quarterly perfect attendance incentives.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues. Acts as liaison to HR consultant.
  • Serves as point of contact for all employees regarding any aspect of their employment such as their pay, benefits and interpretation of policies and procedures in Employee Handbook.
  • Administers performance review program.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • At least five years’ human resources experience.
  • The availability and interest in working part time hours (there is no expectation that this will become a full time job). 
  • The ability to bring new ideas and enthusiasm to the position.
