Are you a top-notch HR professional looking for an opportunity to be part of an outstanding organization? We are an established south suburban IL (Alsip) food and paper distributor and are seeking a high energy, bright individual with at least 3 years’ hands-on experience in an HR role.
The HR Administrator is responsible for providing and supporting all staff and management within our Alsip location. The selected candidate will handle a variety of Human resources functions including:
- Recruitment of warehouse and office positions. Administer new hire process.
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
- Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers. Provide safety training and manage safety committee.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Negotiate bargaining agreements and help interpret labor contracts.
- Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, terminations, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Handle payroll processing for all workers. Administer health and welfare benefits.
The selected candidate will partner with an outsourced HR Consultant to ensure support and delivery of superior HR services for our company.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related discipline.
- At least 3 years of Human Resources experience, internships are applicable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
- Spanish speaking skills strongly desired.
- Experience working with hourly employees, or a union preferred.
- Knowledge of employment laws and general human resources concepts.
- High work capacity, results orientation and strong sense of urgency.
- Excellent organizational, planning and priority setting skills.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player.
- Detail oriented.
- High degree of confidentiality.
- PHR Certification, preferred, or in progress.
